Photographic reproduction of an Indian pictorial chronicle and accompanying text in Nahuatl, compiled between 1576 and 1596 by one Indian scribe, with subsequent additions made between 1597 and 1607 by various other scribes, documenting the early history of the Aztecs, their migration from Aztlan, Mexica dynastic history, conquest by the Spaniards, and colonial events to the early seventeenth century. The Codex also includes descriptions of the pre- and post-Conquest rulers of Tenochtitlán, their dates in office, and names of Spanish viceroys.
